Star Mage

starmageHacía tiempo que no me encontraba con una acumulación tal de tópicos de la literatura infantil y juvenil. En este cómic, que pretende aprovechar el rebufo de las historias de Harry Potter aunque un poco tarde, nos encontramos obviedades tales como el destino manifiesto del adolescente que desconoce sus verdaderos orígenes, la traición familiar o el poder innato. Nada nuevo bajo el sol, aunque como estamos hablando de un imperio galáctico, quizá el la estrella que alumbra no sea nuestro viejo conocido.

Podría seguir con más despropósitos de la historia, como dejar a alguien que tiene que ocultar su identidad sin la más mínima protección frente a una raza con poderes telepáticos y cosas así, pero no merece la pena.

Tampoco se salva mucho un apartado gráfico que, aún siendo correcto, abusa del photoshop y de los fondos repetitivos con un color muy plano. Se busca el efectismo con rayos y brillos, pero no consigue llamar la atención.

Al mismo tiempo que este Star Mage, estaba leyendo Los hombrecitos. Increíble cómo un tebeo con casi cincuenta años destinado a un público similar al de éste del que hablamos consigue transmitir mucho más, con una premisa simple pero con un guión más cuidado y unos dibujos infinitamente más expresivos en su sencillez.

Dresden Files : War Cry

dresdenfilesLos libros que he leído de la saga de Harry Dresden quizá no destaquen por su prosa o su originalidad, pero lo que no se les puede negar es la acción a raudales y la capacidad de entretenimiento de sus historias. Este cómic cumple sobradamente con estas características.

Es importante tener en cuenta que la acción que se relata en estas páginas se sitúa temporalmente tras el séptimo libro de la serie, por lo que no lo recomendaría como punto de entrada en las historias de este detective mago, ya que pone de manifiesto algunas de las tramas de los libros anteriores.

Una vez hecha esta importante aclaración, podemos pasar a hablar de la historia en sí. Prácticamente toda la acción está confinada en un pequeño espacio, ya que durante los cinco números que recopila War Cry asistimos al asedio de una casa por parte de los miembros de la Red Court. Los únicos defensores que se interponen entre los atacantes y aquello que está oculto en la casa son Harry y unos jóvenes miembros del Council. Parece una batalla perdida de antemano, pero la capacidad de sacrificio del mago y sus acompañantes pueden inclinar la balanza del lado del bien.

El apartado gráfico de Carlos Gómez acompaña de manera excelente la acción narrada en el guión de Butcher. Los enfrentamientos mágicos o no son visualmente espectaculares y el ritmo no decae en ningún momento. En algunas escenas me ha parecido detectar una cierta tendencia al estilo de dibujo japonés, pero no sé si es algo connatural al dibujante, al que no conocía con anterioridad. Especialmente me llaman la atención la plasticidad de las escenas con armas de filo (espadas, dagas…)

Si eres fan de la saga de Dresden este cómic no debería faltar en tus vitrinas y si no lo eres, quizá deberías darle una oportunidad al único mago de alquiler de Chicago.
