Jonathan Strahan ha anunciado la adquisición de una nueva novelette de Greg Egan, titulada Uncanny Valley.

Esta es la sinopsis:

Immortality, but at what price, in what form, and how could you be you? In the near future it’s possible to build a new you, a better you, one that could carry on forever.  But if you could carry on, if you could make choices about who you would be forever, how much of your past would you bring with you? Would you be tempted to maybe…edit? Adam isn’t all that he used to be, but he wants to be.

Portada de The Real-Town Murders

Aquí os traigo la portada de la que a priori parece una novela interesantísima de Adam Roberts. Se llamará The Real-Town Murders y estará situada en un futuro cercano. La sinopsis reza así:

Alma is a private detective in a near-future England, a country desperately trying to tempt people away from the delights of Shine, the immersive successor to the internet. She is one of the few who doesn’t use it, but most people are happy to spend their lives plugged in, and the country, as a consequence, is crumbling.

To make matters worse, Alma’s partner is critically ill, and has to be treated without fail every four hours, a responsibility that only Alma can fulfil. If she misses the five-minute window, her lover will die. So when Alma is called to an automated car factory to be shown an impossible death and finds herself caught up in a political coup, she knows that getting too deep may leave her unable to get home.

Y aquí la sinopsis:

The first humans still hunt their children across the stars.

The Colony left Earth to find utopia, a home on a new planet where their leader could fully explore their genetic potential, unfettered by their homeworld’s restrictions. They settled a new paradise, and have been evolving and adapting for centuries. Earth has other plans.

The original humans have been tracking their descendants across the stars, bent on their annihilation. They won’t stop until the new humans have been destroyed, their experimentation wiped out of the human gene pool.

Can’t anyone let go of a grudge anymore?
